We are getting to that time of year where ideas are going around for client gifts.

Will it be a magnet? YES! such a clever idea, everyone needs a million magnets!
Will it be a pen? WOW!! so creative, fits right in with all the other pens.
Will it be a card with Santa on it? Aww so cute! lets all get our signatures per-printed on them to save time.

We all seem to forget that this is a great time to be thinking MORE creatively and sending something that could in fact hold your last call to action for the year. And guess what? it doesn’t need to be Oprah Winfrey expensive (YOU get a car! YOU get a car! and YOU get a car!)

The same questions can be asked of your client gift as we would ask you when creating a brand:

Who are we targeting?
What is their problem that wakes them up at 4am to stress over?
What is our budget?
How will we reach them?
What can we offer them?

A good example is something we get every year from our business coach. She sends a card and a planner, all branded up and completely self-printed and stapled. It’s simple but it has meaning. She gives a few good messages and leaves pages for us to write down or reflections and our goals for the following year. It is RELEVANT it has EMOTION and it always comes with an OFFER for a free seminar.

Another good example we’ve seen recently is a large butchery giving out car fresheners that smell like cooked bacon. mmmmm bacon. This has massive novelty factor but also will make you think of bacon when you are out driving to the supermarket to get more bacon.

There are tons of neat ideas out there that don’t cost the earth and will be kept well past the end of the year to contact you or think about you and hopefully purchase again from you in the new year.
